Count Dooku, also known as Darth Tyranus, is a pivotal character in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy and the animated series The Clone Wars. He first appears in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002), portrayed by Christopher Lee.
Dooku was once a respected Jedi Master, trained by Yoda, and the mentor of Qui-Gon Jinn. However, disillusioned with the corruption within the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order's subservience to it, he left the Order. He embraced the dark side of the Force, becoming a Sith Lord under Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine).
As Darth Tyranus, he became the public face and leader of the Separatist movement, a coalition of star systems and corporations that opposed the Republic. He orchestrated many battles throughout The Clone Wars, furthering Darth Sidious's plan to destabilize the galaxy and establish the Galactic Empire. Dooku's expertise in lightsaber combat and Force abilities made him a formidable opponent for the Jedi Knights.
